This is one of my favorite sketchbook pages because of its simplicity. I like how all of the shapes fit together and are similar while the colors, sizes, and patterns make some stand out more than others. This page consists of a single page of brown construction paper with Sharpie figures drawn on it. Some shapes were then colored in by watercolor paint. The page was inspired by the simple teardrop design, a doodle I do on a daily basis. The page stands alone in my sketchbook due to its simplicity; and stands above the rest because I enjoyed doing it more so then the typical watercolor painted page. Though the doodle is common for me, the construction paper and patterns are both new. This page doesn't communicate a message rather it just shows something I find interesting and enjoyable.
I enjoyed doing this page simply because it began with the typical doodle I draw on all my papers. From the sharpie shapes originally drawn, I colored them in with pen lines and proceeded to paint over them with watercolors of a similar shade. Once finished with that I covered the page in a light yellow spreading the other colors more and filling in all of the white space. I liked doing this page because it was kept simple yet it was a pattern I enjoy doing.
For the third nine weeks, I focused on more abstract water color paintings. This painting began as a simple white page with additional curved lines drawn throughout it. I then continued those lines into a bubble which i then painted blue around. The bottom strip was then colored in alternating colors while I decided to bold the black lines with a surrounding water color line. I think the colors I chose flowed nicely because the blue and purple go together while the red between them contrasts to separate them. I chose this as my favorite page because even though I have more complex pages, I appreciate simple art more than complicated, difficult to follow pieces. I enjoyed creating this page more than the others too.
